Michigan Artists Retreat

Retreat Dates: September 10–13, 2026

Registration is open now and accepted on a rolling basis.

This program offers an immersive, four-day creative experience designed to connect artists from across Michigan in dialogue, reflection, and making. Hosted on Ox-Bow’s historic campus in Saugatuck, Michigan, and facilitated by Grand Haven based painter, Maggie Bandstra, the retreat will take place September 10–13, 2026. This program invites Michigan-based artists of all disciplines to commune with one another, embrace the surrounding landscape, and draw inspiration from the environment and shared creative energy.

Participants receive comfortable lodging, shared studio space, and three chef-prepared meals per day. Artists are encouraged to bring one completed piece to share, as well as additional materials and works in progress to develop during the retreat. Private studios are also available for an additional fee for those seeking a more solitary working environment.

Throughout the weekend, artists will engage in informal discussions, studio time, and opportunities to share and reflect on their practices. The retreat emphasizes connection and exchange—balancing quiet creative time with moments of community gathering, conversation, and inspiration drawn from Ox-Bow’s natural setting and historic studios.

The cost of the Michigan Artists Retreat is $600 per person, which includes four days and three nights of lodging, studio access, and meals. Private studios may be reserved for an additional $175. Registration is open now, and the deadline to register is September 1, 2026.
