Friday Night Open Studios
Summer 2019: June 14, June 28 (*canceled), July 26, August 9
Here in Saugatuck we have been experiencing a very rainy start to our summer season. This has inspired our community of artist in many ways. Our glass class installed a cluster of clear, plant-like glass sculptures on our currently underwater dock. In an all-hands-on-deck papermaking class exercise, the students pulled an 8 foot sheet of handmade paper from our lagoon’s water. This weather is sparking exciting collective art making experiences, but the rain is pressing us to undergo maintenance to ensure we stay running smoothly for our students, visitors and upcoming Summer Benefit. We will unfortunately have to cancel Open Studios for Friday, June 28th as we have to do extra preparation on the meadow for our big benefit tent.
We look forward to seeing you again for our next Friday Night Open Studios on July 26th!
The Ox-Bow Staff
Join us on 4 Friday evenings during the 2019 summer season from 7:30 - 10 p.m. Participants including students, fellows, and MFA & Faculty Artists in Residence from the preceding week open their studios and display their work. Ox-Bow’s Friday Night Open Studios also feature studio demonstrations in our glass and metals studios. Attendees are also encouraged to visit the Ox-Bow Gallery (located in the Inn) to view the current show by the Ox-Bow staff and fellows.
Additionally, guests are treated to a live auction at 8PM of student, staff, and faculty work! This is a great opportunity to support Ox-Bow in helping to maintain the studios and adding to our scholarship funds all while building your art collection!
Parking at Ox-Bow is limited and we invite all guests to carpool or ride our free shuttle to our campus from St. Peter’s Church:
100 St Peter’s Drive, Douglas, MI. Runs continuously from 7:15pm - 10:15pm.
