Be a Resident

We’ve reimagined our residency programs to explore different approaches to serving artists. Below you will find a number of new models, each with a unique take on how artists come together in community to share, build new skills, dive into critical conversations, and spend focused time on making.

If you are looking for studio access to explore new techniques or fabricate a project with the support of techs, artists can also rent studio time or private instruction during select seasons. Explore those options on our rentals page.

Summer Residency

(Summer; fully funded)

We will continue to offer our fully-funded traditional in-person residencies for artists and writers in the summer. The summer residency is open to all artists including current MFA students, recent graduates, faculty at all levels, teaching artists, and professional artists.

Hybrid Residency-Workshop

(Fall; Paid with fully funded opportunities)

Longform, piloted in 2021, is an in-person hybrid residency workshop model, in which artists can focus on their work while also developing new skills. Participants will have the opportunity to work alongside mentoring faculty.

Fall/Halloween Residency

Residence Evil is currently on hiatus, and is not planned to run in 2024.

Residence Evil, is a mini-residency where Artists, or “creeps-in-residence,” will produce at least one of many creepy, beautiful and bizarre scenes for Ox-Bow’s Halloween weekend event Ox-Bow Goes to Hell.
