Internet and Phone
Part of the charm of life at Ox-Bow is experiencing a haven away from the busyness of life. That being said, and due to the location of the camp there is limited Internet and cell reception on campus. General access computers are not available, but we do have Wifi in the main inn so feel free to bring your laptop. There is a land line in the new inn, which are available to make local calls, and can be used for others to contact you while on campus. The number (posted above the phone) is 269-857-1682.
Course and studio
For studio information, take a look at our Studio Description & Equipment page.
There is no copy machine available on campus. Please contact the Chicago office to make any copies of readings or other course materials you will need during your class by December 15th.
If you would like your students to do readings prior to the start of the class, please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the class.
We recommend that students and faculty bring the supplies that will be needed for the duration of time at Ox-Bow. The closest store that carries art supplies is Michael’s Arts & Crafts and Hobby Lobby located in Holland, MI (20 minute drive). Overseisel Lumber is a small hardware store in Saugatuck. There are also a number of thrift stores in Holland.
*Anyone using video/photo equipment should bring their own memory cards.
Faculty will be scheduled to give a 30-minute slide lecture during the 1st week of classes. Please bring images of your work to campus (lecture will be scheduled upon arrival). Ox-Bow has both digital and analog slide capabilities.
We award 11 students a work-scholarship during the winter session. Work-scholarship students work fifteen hours per week as a part of the housekeeping, grounds and maintenance, or kitchen staff. These are important jobs, as we could not operate without these students. They are scheduled to work before and after class. We ask for faculty members to understand if a work-scholarship student is a few minutes late to class after a shift. Specifically, kitchen work scholarship students will miss some class time after lunch so, please plan demonstrations, lectures, etc. accordingly. Please inform a member of the office staff if this becomes a problem.
