Ox-Bow is and always has been a school of art.
Our first priority is excellence in art education. We provide the highest level of instruction without the confines of a traditional academic setting. Through the unique combination of a focused community and small classes, students are able to spend their time at Ox-Bow immersed in their work. Working closely with faculty, each student is able to design an individual course of study within the studio environment that allows for personal experimentation while maintaining a rigorous dialogue with faculty members, visiting artists, and classmates.
The natural environment at Ox-Bow and the casual student-teacher relationship allow the instruction to filter out of the classroom and into the immediate community. Respected faculty from well-known institutions are invited to teach each summer; visiting artists/scholars arrive each week to share their work, their insight, and their successes; artists of all levels of experience engage in artmaking through our diverse curriculum. Classes may run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but there is virtually no limit on the amount of interaction those working at Ox-Bow will enjoy.
