Spend an evening with Ox-Bow

Ox-Bow invites you to attend our two major fundraising events. These parties are not to be missed! The Winter Benefit is held in Downtown Chicago while the Summer Benefit takes place on Ox-Bow’s beautiful 115-acre campus. Both evenings include food, libations, and a spectacular assortment of art to be auctioned. With over one hundred pieces by renowned veterans and emerging artists available for purchase at each auction, there is something for everyone. Ox-Bow’s fundraising events are a wonderful way to add pieces to your collection while supporting one of your favorite causes.

Winter Benefit Art Auction

The Ox-Bow Winter Benefit on Thursday, February 21st was a huge success! Raising over $100,000 for our historic school, Ox-Bow sold over 130 pieces of artwork, donated by students, faculty, staff and friends. Over 450 guests from all over the Chicago Metropolitan area, Michigan, and Indiana arrived to celebrate Ox-Bow’s 98th year of operation. This year’s event featured 120 pieces of artwork by some of Ox-Bow’s most prominent alumni and friends, including rare pieces in the live auction by Experimental Jazz icon, Peter Brötzmann, New York artist, Ellen Lanyon, Chicago Imagist Karl Wirsum, and SAIC faculty member and painter, Jim Lutes. The silent auction, which featured 3 sections of work, highlighted the diversity of artists involved with the school of art, with pieces by 2008 Whitney Biennial artist, Melanie Schiff, internationally renowned conceptual artist, Michelle Grabner, and local gallery owner and Ox-Bow head chef, Eric May. Other donating artists include young and emerging visual artists from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and alumni of the Ox-Bow Artist in Residence program, making the event a premier showcase for the next generation of important artists.

During the live portion of the event, Ox-Bow’s Executive Director Jason Kalajainen, and Board of Director’s Chair, Todd Warnock updated guests on Ox-Bow’s Campaign for the Second Century and honored former Vice Chairman of Leo Burnett, Ox-Bow Board Member and artist. Feeley, a former Ox-Bow student, and a current member of Ox-Bow’s Board of Directors, praised the role Ox-Bow plays in the life of an artist—offering critical feedback, protection from commercial interests, and an inspiring landscape.
