Nearly all Ox-Bow courses can be taken for undergraduate or graduate-level college credit. Credit is awarded by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. SAIC has been accredited since 1936 by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and since 1944 (charter member) by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
SAIC transcripts are available for a small fee from the registration and records office. To request a transcript, call 312.899.5117 or email saicregistrar@artic.edu.
If you are interested in graduate credit, please have the course approved by your graduate advisor at your home institution. Credit may also be applied towards professional development requirements for art educators. Please check with your district or state educational association.
SAIC OFF-CAMPUS STUDY REQUIREMENT
Courses taken for credit at Ox-Bow can count towards the 6-credit off-campus study requirement for undergraduates, implemented in fall 2004. Students can earn all six credits in as little as four weeks. Courses taken at Ox-Bow that satisfy the off-campus study requirement may also satisfy degree requirements.
Paying for Credit and Non-Credit courses
Checks and money orders for credit courses should be made payable to The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Credit card payments for credit tuition should be made through SAIC's payment partner, Tuition Management Systems (TMS), via their website, www.afford.com. Note that TMS charges a fee for processing payments.
All courses taken for non-credit courses must be paid for in full at the time of registration. Non-credit courses may be paid for by credit card, check, or money order. Ox-Bow accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express. All checks and money orders should be made payable to Ox-Bow.
