Itatani is a Professor at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has taught at many other international institutions, such as: SACI (Italy); University of Bonn (Germany); Royal College of Art (London); China National Academy of Fine Arts; Tokyo National University of Art and Music. Select solo exhibitions include Musèe du Quebec; Shinjuku Park Tower Gallery (Tokyo); Frauen Museum (Germany); University of Wyoming Art Museum; Alternative Museum (NYC; Daum Museum of Contemporary Art (MO); Chicago Cultural Center. Her works are in many public and private collections, including Museu D’art Contemporani Barcelona; Olympic Museum, (Switzerland); National Museum of Contemporary Art (Korea); Tokoha Museum (Japan); Musée du Québec; Erie Art Museum (PA); Maier Museum (VA); Cincinnati Art Museum; Nevada Museum of Art; Crocker Art Museum (CA); Kresge Art Museum (MI); Muskegon Museum of Art (MI); Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago); State of Illinois Museum. She has received National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, Marie Sharp Walsh New York Studio Grant and John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship among others.
