This course will introduce kids to Ox-Bow's scenic environment by taking walks through the woods and along the water, using the plants and wildlife as inspiration for painting and drawing. Students will use a variety of materials including pastels, watercolors, and acrylic paint to learn observational drawing skills as well as basic painting techniques. We will also observe the paintings of artists such as Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso.

The light was unusual the scenery beautiful. It all started with painting 100 years ago. Now Ox-Bow offers art classes in many disciplines. Join us on the meadow as we bask in the light, and sketch, draw, paint, use clay, and found objects to make two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art. Along the way we will explore all the arts and the unique natural environment that makes up Ox-Bow.

Capture the essence of Ox-Bow while creating dreamy landscapes of the natural dunes, woods, and lagoon. During the beautiful summer season celebrating Ox-Bow's centennial year, young artists will create compositions using drawing and paint mediums that closely examine color and address the constant changes of light in their compositions.
