Using a Hot Head torch, learn the basics of making, shaping, and decorating unique flame worked glass beads. Explore in-depth techniques through demonstration, hands-on classroom time, and personalized instruction. Beginning students will learn how to make many shapes of beads, as well as pull stringers and decorative cane. Advanced students can focus on decorative surface techniques, sculptural beads or individual projects. This class can be combined with the afternoon class to incorporate glass elements into wire sculpture and jewelry.
Jessica Bohus has her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has taught at Fiasco glass, Saugatuck Center for the Arts, Ox-Bow, and Water Street Glassworks. She has exhibited at The Lubeznik Center for the Arts, IN; The Holland Area Arts Council, MI; The Indianapolis Art Center, IN; Beacon Street Gallery in Chicago; Torpedo Factory, MD; Kalamazoo Institute of Art, MI; and Good Goods, MI.
