Deb Sokolow is a Chicago-based artist whose drawings and artist books blend fact with fiction and speculate both comically and critically on the details of shadowy histories and the foibles of heads of state. Sokolow has exhibited at the 4th Athens Biennale, Van Abbemuseum, Museum für Gegenwartskunst Siegen, The Drawing Center in New York, a MATRIX exhibition at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art and in Chicago at Western Exhibitions. Her work can be found in permanent collections such as the Hirshhorn Museum and Los Angeles County Museum of Art and in Phaidon’s Vitamin D2 survey on contemporary drawing. Sokolow received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2004 and is Associate Professor of Instruction in Art Theory; Practice at Northwestern University.
