Instructor: James Brandess, Ages 13 and up, $225 for all four workshops, or $60 per workshop
Four consecutive Saturdays: July 23, July 30, August 6, and August 13, 10am-1pm
In the grand tradition of Ox-Bow and of Frederick F. Fursman, aspiring artists will gather on Saturday mornings for the purpose of painting in the historic Ox-Bow landscape. In these workshops we will learn what it means to work from observation. We will study the relationships in size, color, shape, placement and value of elements in the natural surroundings. We will learn to paint the differences and similarities, we will paint, ‘in context’. For example, if we hold up a color chip that has been labeled ‘green’, how is this different or similar to all the colors we see around us that our minds also label as ‘green’? This is a multi-level landscape painting class. Participants may sign up for one or all four of these three-hour landscape painting workshops.
